Both are woodturners and both are named Deb. Debbie Woods & Debra Breton are galleried artisans who love to turn wood (we're addicted). Sometimes our wood turned art is pierced, carved or embellished with dyes, gems, paints, & pyrography. You can find out more about the Debs here.
When we're not in the studio turning wood, we can usually be found working in the organic garden, fulfilling OOP DVD orders for LAWKIDVD, or out at the crack of dawn, taking photos of birds and wildlife while adding more birds to our life lists!
Don't forget to take a look at the woodturning shop while you're here, this is where we create and where you can take private lessons. There's a wonderful view of the backyard that the local wildlife call "home", its beautiful and very inspiring - it's a wonder we get any work done at all!
Also, if you're new to woodturning or just wanting to take your skills to the next level, have a look at some of these really helpful (and cheap) woodturning books and VHS videos.
What's New
We've just started a new blog which is aimed at sharing information and photos (tutorials) on 'how-to' turn wood. Your feedback, gripes and or suggestions are appreciated. You can visit the blog here.
We're also bracing for yet MORE snow. The rumour is that today and tomorrow, Feb 5th and 6th - we are expecting anywhere from 20-30 inches of snow. They are calling it the probable biggest storm of the century!
We're back in the shop finally, after a bit of a rest from a very busy holiday season - and we're NOT complaining! All the ideas we've been busy jotting down the past few weeks will hopefully transfer onto the lathe and finally into the work. Very interesting stuff - must be the ushering in of a new decade that is bringing about the rather different ideas... Lets hope they work.
The new heater we recently installed for the studio is a blessing - its now toasty warm in there! Its a good thing, because our temperatures here in Northern Virginia have been pretty darn cold recently - in the 20's. We've also had more snow here than usual, in fact, in one day we got 22" , that's more than our seasonal average of 21 inches! So the heater is a good thing!!
Instructional wood turning lessons are now resuming and commissioned works are once again welcomed, thanks for your patience during one of our busiest seasons yet!
If you have any questions, want to see any items in person, or just want to share your passion for woodturning, then we would love to hear from you..
Have FUN & Let the shavings fly ~
